De tentoonstelling Ede Staal: Mijn Groningen – Mien Grunnen is nu te bezoeken in de museumboerderij van 

. Het team heeft keihard gewerkt aan een VR-beleving, een dialectspel, een interactieve fotowand en de aankleding van de ruimte. 

Indietopia bedankt hiervoor haar vele getalenteerde stagiairs, 

. Het Groningse landschap, dat troubadour Ede Staal zo mooi bezong, diende als grote inspiratiebron. Bovendien kon er geput worden uit het boek ‘Din blift allain d’herinnering’ van Jasper Staal, dat vol staat met anekdotes over Ede. Bekijk de speciale

Ede Staal: mijn Groningen - mien Grunnen

During an award ceremony, Indietopia won the Excellent Digital Idea contest, organised by Provincie Groningen. We’ll make reconstructions of churches in Groningen, using photogrammetry, drone photo scanning, Meshroom and RealityCapture. 

Showcasing churches to promote tourism and cultural events;

Providing 3D-models for free to the public (open-source);

Monitoring damage and shifts in the churches’ construction;

Enabling local businesses to make models for items such as soap and candles.


 shows the church of Klein Wetsinge from all angles. It took 29 hours, 1507 photos, 37.3 million polygons and 81 parts to create the video. With the new hardware we hope to speed up the process.

. The format is compatible with common 3D software. All the textures are already connected to the models. New models will regularly be added by our team to Sketchfab.

3D-scans of churches

From 9 October 2021 – 23 January 2022, Indietopia hosts the exhibit 

. It is the first exhibit in the Netherlands where art from screens is translated to the real world using new techniques such as rotoscoping and photogrammetry. 

On display are an artwork made in VR, an interactive game timeline, an entire room recreated from Dishonored 2 and themed corners where visitors can play Dear Esther and What Remains of Edith Finch. Many artists are required to make art for virtual worlds, ranging from drawing grass and trees that wave in the wind, to making sure the sun casts realistic shadows around objects. Every detail within games is put together by a team of designers and artists. Indietopia works together with a scenographer to highlight various game art aspects.
